PAULDING – Richard J. Harter, age 80, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Parkview Hospital - Randallia, Fort Wayne, IN.

Richard was born on June 28, 1942, in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Charles and Clara (Chenoweth) Harter. On February 5, 1965, he married the love of his life, Victoria "Vicki" McIntosh who preceded him in death on February 10, 2020. Richard worked at GM Powertrain - Defiance for over 27 years until his retirement in 1999. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Richard was a member of the

U.A.W. 211, the Defiance V.F.W. Post 3306, and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Grover Hill.

Richard is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Sonya) Harter, Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren: Joseph Harter, Portland, OR; Isaac Harter, Fort Wayne, IN; Lexy (Tom) Butts, Bowling Green, KY; Elijah Harter, Fort Wayne, IN; sisters: Linda (Phil) Gaunt, Anderson, IN; Anna Louise (Bob) Bocock, Warren, IN; Janine Wallace, Muncie, IN; brothers: Clarence (Bonnie) Harter, Tulsa, OK; Roger (Hulda) Harter, Montpelier, IN.

Richard is also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Cobb and brother, Byron Harter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Den Herder Funeral Home with Pastor Pat Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Paulding V.F.W. Post 587.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Den Herder Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday.
