Sunday was a big day for high school volleyball teams as district brackets were finalized for the upcoming OHSAA tournaments.

In Division II at Leipsic, Celina and Maumee were named the top two seeds with sectional semifinal action on October 19 and sectional championship matches on October 21.

First round matchups on October 19 feature tenth seeded Van Wert at seventh seeded Defiance, 15th seeded Toledo Scott at 13th seeded Rossford, 14th seeded Toledo Woodward visits fourth seeded Elida, ninth seeded Toledo Central Catholic at fifth seeded Bryan, 12th seeded Napoleon at second seeded Maumee, eighth seeded Lima Bath at sixth seeded St. Marys and 11th seeded Toledo Rogers at third seeded Lima Shawnee.

In sectional championships on October 21, the Van Wert-Defiance winner plays the Lima Shawnee-Toledo Rogers victor with the highest seed remaining hosting. Also, the Maumee-Napoleon victor and the St. Marys-Lima Bath match winner will square off at the site of the highest remaining team.

Top seed Celina will welcome in the Toledo Scott-Rossford winner while the top remaining squad will host the match featuring the winners from the Toledo Woodward-Elida match and the Bryan-Toledo Central Catholic contest.

Van Wert is a host site for a Division IV district with St. Henry tabbed the top seed while Lincolnview took the second and Crestview picked up the third seed.

Opening round sectional action on October 19 has eighth seeded Kalida hosting ninth seeded Lima Temple Christian, fifth seeded Marion Local welcoming in 11th seeded Lima Central Catholic, sixth seeded Wayne Trace hosting tenth seeded Lima Perry and 12th seeded Delphos St. John’s at fourth seeded Fort Recovery.

Sectional championships on October 21 will feature top seeded St. Henry welcoming in the Kalida-Lima Temple Christian victor and second seeded Lincolnview hosting the Wayne Trace-Lima Perry winner. Third seeded Crestview also awaits the winner of the match between Fort Recovery and Delphos St. John’s.

The Marion Local-Lima Central Catholic survivor will take on seventh seeded Ottoville with that match site undetermined. A Flyer win in the opening round sends the Big Green to Maria Stein but a Thunderbird victory will put LCC at Ottoville.

Division IV district action is hosted by Bowling Green High School with Leipsic and Miller City grabbing the top two seeds.

Opening round will be on October 19 with fifth seeded Ottawa Hills hosting eighth seeded Toledo Emmanuel Christian while top seeded Leipsic welcomes in tenth seeded Put-In-Bay. The other first round matchup features seventh seeded Holgate at sixth seeded Patrick Henry.

Sectional championship games will have the Patrick Henry-Holgate winner at second seeded Miller City on October 21 while ninth seeded Gibsonburg visits third seeded Woodmore. Fourth seeded Toledo Christian hosts the Ottawa Hills-Toledo Emmanuel Christian victor and 11th seeded Cardinal Stritch visiting the Leipsic-Put In Bay winner.

Hilltop and North Central were given the top two seeds in the Division IV district at Napoleon.

First round matchups on October 19 has ninth seeded Pettisville at eighth seeded Edgerton, 11th seeded Fayette at fourth seeded Ayersville and seventh seeded Stryker visiting sixth seeded Antwerp.

Sectional championship games will feature third seeded Hicksville hosting either Antwerp or Stryker, top seeded Hilltop welcoming in tenth seeded Continental and second seeded North Central hosting Edgerton or Pettisville. The Ayersville-Fayette winner takes on fifth seeded Edon with the match played at the highest remaining seed’s location.

In the Division III district at Kalida, Liberty Benton was selected the top seed with Coldwater garnering the second seed.

The top-seeded Eagles will host 13th seeded Riverdale on October 18 with tenth seeded Upper Sandusky awaiting the winner on October 20. If Liberty Benton wins the opener, the Eagles will host the sectional final. Otherwise, a Riverdale win would send the Falcons to Upper Sandusky.

Sixth seeded Bluffton hosts seventh seeded Van Buren on October 18 and that winner will visit third seeded Ottawa Glandorf for an October 20 sectional championship. 12th seeded Delphos Jefferson makes the trip to the second seeded Cavaliers, with the winner of that match taking on 11th seeded Carey. A Coldwater win will have the Blue Devils visit Mercer County while a Wildcat win will feature a road trip from Delphos Jefferson to Carey.

Fourth seeded Parkway will also host ninth seeded Spencerville on October 18 while fifth seeded Allen East welcomes in eighth seeded Elmwood. The highest seed remaining in that bracket will then host the sectional final on October 20.

Division III district volleyball will also be hosted by Defiance with Lake (18-1) taking the top seed and Archbold being selected the second seed.

Sectional semifinal action will feature 12th seeded Evergreen (5-12) at eighth seeded Northwood (12-6), tenth seeded Montpelier (9-9) visiting fourth seeded Fairview (14-4), sixth seeded Wauseon (13-5) at fifth seeded Swanton (15-3), ninth seeded Liberty Center (7-13) at seventh seeded Otsego (9-7) and 13th seeded Delta visiting third seeded Tinora. All sectional semifinals in the district will be on October 18.

In sectional championship action on October 20, top seeded Lake awaits the Evergreen-Northwood winner in with second seeded Archbold (16-2) playing either Otsego or Liberty Center. Eleventh seeded Paulding (5-13) will most likely make the trip to third seeded Tinora (14-4), unless Delta (2-15) upsets the Rams which would then put the sectional championship at the home of the maroon and white Lady Panthers.

The top seed remaining from the sectional semifinals featuring Montpelier-Fairview and Swanton-Wauseon also will host a sectional championship on October 20.
