TROY - Wayne Trace’s wrestling team made the trip to Troy High School on Saturday where the squad posted a sixth place finish in the Troy Invitational.

The Raiders’ Hunter Long captured an individual championship at the meet, winning the 120 pound weight class with a pin of Miami East’s Max Short at the 6:43 mark.

Long also defeated Miami East’s Chance Rust (pin, :23), Greenville’s Logan Thatcher (pin, :47) and Hamilton’s Bonifcio Gutierrez (pin, 1:12).

At 106, Jarrett Hornish recorded a second place finish after dropping a 5-0 decision to Greenville’s Andrew Stachler in the championship.

Hornish had previously three victories via pins over Wayne’s Sonny Nguyen (:54), Ben Logan’s Jourdian Reisinger (1:32) and Covington’s Devin Newhouse (:29).

Wayne Trace’s Gabe Sutton also picked up a runner-up finish at 113, coming up short in the championship match to Covington’s Cael Vanderhorst in a technical fall at 4:41.

Sutton defeated St. Xavier’s William Dixon in a pin at the 1:28 mark before also pinning Sidney’s Lillian Blosser in 47 seconds. In his third match, Sutton posted a pin of Wayne’s Jonathan Porter in 1:35.

Wyatt Stabler went 4-1 on the day to record a third place finish in the tournament in the 160 pound class.

Stabler got past Covington’s Dylan Burns to take third with a pin at the 2:05 mark.

Other victories for Stabler came over Hamilton’s Dylan Deck (11-5), Wayne’s Demetries McFadden (pin, :55) and Sidney’s Dale Blosser (1:22).

Eli Moore picked up a sixth place finish at 170 with a 3-2 record in the tournament.

Moore’s wins were over Arcanum’s Cael Gostomsky (pin, :47), Ben Logan’s Nick Rose (pin, 4:58) and Miami East’s Michael Miller (14-2).

Jess Munger split his four matches on the day to take seventh place overall.

Munger pinned Aiden Elsass of Ben Logan in 1:36 while pinning Troy’s Joe Cusick in 5:27.

Covington won the team title with 241.5 points while Miami East took second at 161.5 and Greenville finished third with 160.

Northmont picked up fourth at 159 followed by Sidney (132), Wayne Trace (132), Ben Logan (129), St. Xavier (114.5), Wayne (114.5), St. John’s (104), Lima Senior (76), Arcanum (66), Troy (47) and Hamilton (37.5).
