WAUSEON – For the third time in school history and second season in a row, the Wayne Trace boys and girls golf teams both came home Green Meadows Conference tournament champions in action at Ironwood Golf Course on Tuesday.

Wayne Trace won both the boys and girls titles in 2011 and again in 2019 before bringing home the championship from each side Tuesday afternoon.

In the boys tournament, the Raiders won the 25th conference championship in school history by shooting a 350 to get past second place Edgerton’s 361.

Tinora finished third at 376 followed by Antwerp (377), Fairview (392), Holgate (392), Ayersville (398) and Hicksville (404).

“I am really pleased with the way we played today,” commented Raider boys head coach Chris Rosswurm. “We had some guys step up and shoot well and they did a nice job of staying focused and doing what they needed to do.”

Wayne Trace was led to the title by senior Kaden Sutton, who captured Green Meadows Conference Player of the Year honors and tournament medalist honors with a round of 80. Sutton also was the GMC Player of the Year in 2019 as well.

“Kaden has really put the time in and worked tremendously hard this year,” Rosswurm noted. “This is something he wanted to do after winning it last year and I was glad to see that his hard work paid off for him.”

Evan Crosby also played well for the Raiders, finishing second on the squad with an 84, while seniors Dane Moore and Garrett Williamson both posted rounds of 93. Nyle Stoller chipped in a 96 for Wayne Trace and Kaden Clark carded a 112.

“Just very happy for this group,” concluded Rosswurm after the match. “It is always a goal to come up here and have success and this group found a way to do that.”

Esten Kennerk led Edgerton with an 84 while Noah Landel added an 86 and Kaden Kennerk chipped in an 89.

Carter Bernal paced Tinora by shooting an 88 with Joe Melia recorded a 94 for the Rams.

Antwerp picked up an 83 from Gaige McMichael and Eric Thornell finished with a 94. Ethan Lichty (99), Jon Meyer (101) and Ross Lee (116) were the other Archer golfers.

Fairview got a 90 from Kasen Kauffman to lead the Apaches while Holgate’s Josh Tobias shot an 84 and Ayersville’s Luke Schroeder carded an 85. Hicksville was led by Aidan Pollick with a 95.

In the girls tournament, Wayne Trace totaled a round of 363 to easily capture the school’s fifth straight Green Meadows Conference crown and eighth overall.

Fairview finished second at 401 while Hicksville took third with a 403. Edgerton claimed fourth at 425 followed by Tinora (480) and Antwerp (486).

Hicksville’s Kenzie Schroeder claimed the Player of the Year and tournament medalist honors by carding a 76.

The Lady Raiders were paced by senior Kenadie Daeger with an 81 and senior Emma Crosby, who posted an 89. Senior Chloe Parker added a 94 for Wayne Trace and sophomore Riley Daeger chipped in a 99. Senior Alena Denny finished with a 106 for the red, white and blue and sophomore Kristin Wannemacher posted a 121.

Lorelle Hetrick and Emily Singer topped Fairview with scores of 91 and 95, respectively, while Edgerton’s Briana Walkup finished with a 99 to lead the Bulldogs. Rylee Joost had a 110 to pace Tinora.

McCartney Lucas finished with an 89 to lead Antwerp followed by Breanna Fulk (118), Melanie Mills (124) and Isabelle Litzenberg (155).
