PAULDING - He did a little bit of everything for the Paulding Panthers and for that Panther senior Jaret Miller was voted the Paulding County Boys Basketball Player of the Year in voting by the county coaches and media.

Miller scored 14 points per game for the maroon-and-white and hit a county-high 48 3-point field goals as well.

“He contributed in a lot of ways for us,” noted Panther head coach Brian Miller. “He scored for us but he would also find other ways to make plays. He really was at his best when he was finding open guys and getting other players involved which made us a better team, too.”

The senior guard also dished out a team-high 62 assists for Paulding and recorded a county-high 50 steals on top of that. Miller also grabbed 99 rebounds for Panthers.

“Jaret worked very hard to become the player he is,” added the Panther mentor. “He put in a lot of time on the court in the offseason and worked hard in making himself a better player. I am very proud of the basketball player and young man that he has become.”

Other players voted onto the first team are Wayne Trace’s Nathan Gerber and Reid Miller, Paulding’s Fletcher Cook and the Antwerp duo of Jayvin Landers and Luke Brewer.

Nathan Gerber paced Wayne Trace with 14 points a contest and grabbed 6.7 rebounds per game. The junior guard/forward picked up 19 steals as well for the Raiders and hit 39 3-point field goals for the Raiders.

Reid Miller bucketed 9.5 markers a night for Wayne Trace but the junior guard was much more than a scorer for the Raiders. He led the team with 59 assists and 35 steals but also was the floor general for the red, white and blue offense. Miller pulled down 56 rebounds as well for the Raiders.

Fletcher Cook led the Panthers with 15.9 points per game, hitting 46 3-point field goals while grabbing 96 rebounds on the season. Cook also dished out 35 assists for the maroon-and-white and posted 31 steals.

Jayvin Landers paced Antwerp in scoring with a dozen markers a night and recorded 96 rebounds for the blue-and-white. He also ended the year with 59 assists and 23 steals for Antwerp while connecting on 45 3-point field goals.

Luke Brewer finished his senior season scoring 11.5 points per game and dished out 68 assists for the Archers. Brewer also grabbed 96 rebounds on the year for the blue-and-white while picking up 31 steals. He hit 31 treys as well for Antwerp.

Honorees receiving honorable mention included Paulding’s Carson Shull and Blake McGarvey along with the Antwerp duo of Cole Seslar and Austin Lichty. Wayne Trace’s Josiah Linder and Jace Vining received honorable mention as well.

Carson Shull chipped in 11.7 markers a night and hauled down 55 rebounds for the Panthers. The maroon-and-white guard also recorded 35 assists and 20 steals.

Blake McGarvey bucketed 6.3 points a contest for Paulding while totaling 64 rebounds and 20 3-point field goals. McGarvey topped the Panthers with 79 assists on the year and finished with 28 steals.

Austin Lichty scored 7.1 points per game for Antwerp and recorded 50 rebounds for the blue-and-white. The Archer sophomore guard connected on 32 treys with 29 assists and 22 steals.

Cole Seslar wrapped up his career by scoring 8.3 markers a contest and totaled 99 boards for the Archers. The blue-and-white guard dished out 90 assists for Antwerp and picked up 30 steals.
