ARCHBOLD - The Paulding volleyball team dropped a pair of three-set matches before coming back to win the finale at Saturday’s Archbold Blue Streak Spiketacular.

The Panthers were defeated by Toledo Christian 25-23, 11-25, 25-16 and Otsego 25-20, 10-25, 25-15 in their first two contests, then swept Edgerton 25-15, 27-25 to finish in seventh place out of eight teams in the event.

“Saturday mornings are always tough and we are slow to start,” Paulding coach Sydney Collins said. “We played competitively but couldn’t finish in that third set.”

Paulding did manage to defeat Edgerton in the battle for seventh, making it two wins over the Bulldogs this season.

“It’s a fun event for the girls to bond and spend the day playing against competition teams,” Collins said after the Panthers closed out the day with a 5-12 record. Edgerton is now 5-11.

The host Blue Streaks of Archbold came out on top in the Spiketacular, beating Tinora in three sets in the championship match in a battle of league-leading squads. The NWOAL front-running Streaks are now 15-2 while the GMC first place Rams, which had an eight-game winning streak snapped, are now 12.4.
