On a night three Paulding seniors were honored, a freshman came up big in leading the Panthers past Defiance, 11-6.

Jalyn Klopfenstein went 4-for-4 at the plate, scored three runs and drove in two while going the distance to pick up the victory on the mound for the Panthers.

Sophomore Riley Stork aided the cause for Paulding with a pair of doubles and four RBIs

The Panthers, which recognized seniors Alivya Bakle, Zoraya Valle and Brooklynn Arnold, tallied four runs in the first inning and two in the third to go in front 6-0. After the Bulldogs scored once in the top of the fifth, Paulding put four on the board in the bottom of the frame to take a 10-1 lead and held on behind Klopfenstein, who allowed three earned runs while fanning three.

“We got up early, hit the ball well and played solid defense,” said Paulding coach Mallory Clark, whose Panthers are now 14-8 on the year. “Defiance has a really nice team and got their bats going in the top of the sixth. They all can hit the ball hard.”

Bakle had a single and scored three runs in her home finale for the Panthers while Valle hit a single.

“We had a beautiful day to honor our three special seniors,” Clark said. “It was a nice win on Senior Night for us against a very competitive Lady Bulldog team.”

Marrah Elston had a single and double and scored twice for Defiance, which fell to 12-12 on the season.
