WEST UNITY - Kolson Egnor proved clutch late in the game to help Paulding win its sixth consecutive game on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over Hilltop.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the junior right-hander was summoned to pitch with runners on second and third and one away and proceeded to get out of the jam without allowing a run. Then in the top of the seventh, the Panthers rallied for two runs, including what proved to be the game-winning hit by Egnor.

“The kids did a good job of fighting for seven innings to pull out a win,” explained head coach Travis McGarvey after the Panthers improved to 7-5 on the season. “We struggled offensively for the majority of the game and our pitchers struggled to find the strike zone, but we found a way to win.”

Hunter Kauser had two singles for Paulding while Egnor, Evan Edwards and Blake McGarvey all had doubles. Westen Phlipot had a single and drove in two with Jaret Miller adding a single while scoring twice.

It was the third win in five days for Egnor.
