PAULDING – Paulding picked up its third run-rule victory of the season with an 11-1 win over Miller City on Monday.

“I am extremely pleased with our bats again tonight,” noted Paulding head coach Mallory Clark after the Panthers followed up a 15-hit performance against Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday with 13 against Miller City.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first, the hosts put the game away with six in the second inning en route to win number three in four games this year.

Riley Stork, in her first varsity, went the distance allowing just one earned run.

“I was happy with the mound performance we got out of our freshman going five innings for the win,” Clark said of Stork, who walked seven. “Miller City had multiple runners on base every inning, but our defense was extremely efficient tonight in limiting Miller City to just one run.”

Miller City head coach Michael Oedy pointed to the Paulding defense as a big part of the outcome.

“We had eight hits and drew seven walks and could only push one run across,” Oedy said. “The Panther defense is stout.

“And the Panthers can rake. They had five extra-base hits. We tried to stay away from Stallbaum with the screw-ball but she went the other way with it for a double like a pro should. Then we just walked her.”

Maddie Otto went all the way in defeat for the Wildcats.

“Maddie is our ace and a senior and she threw admirably,” Oedy added.”She still falls in love with her fastball at times.”

Jalynn Parrett had a pair of singles, a double and scored three runs while driving in two for Paulding. Leigh Egnor and Stallbaum each had two doubles, with Egnor producing three RBIs and Stallbaum scoring three runs. Morgan Iler chipped in with a single, triple and two RBIs.

Otto and Wilhelm each hit two singles for the Wildcats.
