The
Paulding High School baseball team won four league games within the
last week, and all four were on shutouts by different pitchers. In a
total of 41 innings pitched, the Paulding staff has only given up one
earned run.

AYERSVILLE 0
Stever Yenser
pitched a neat four hitter and struck out 14 Ayersville Pilots in
registering his second win of the season. Yenser struck out the side in
two separate innings in registering his masterpiece. The Panthers only
led 1-0 going into the 6th inning. Yenser reached first on an error with
one already out. After two were out Tim Boss, worked losing pitcher Rex
Shreve for a walk, and then Jim Sholl hit a shot to the shortstop who
error-ed the ball and Yenser scored. Bruce Erford’s triple drove the
third and fourth runs home and the Panthers had their second win of the
season sacked up.
Big Lew Roth led the Paulding attack with 2
singles in three trips. Lew also had 1 RBI. Paulding now stands 1-0 in
the Green Meadows Conference.

SHOLL HURLS NO-HITTER
Jim
Sholl fired a no hit no run game in beating Delphos for the Panthers
second win without a defeat in the Northwest Conference. Paulding now
stands at 3-0-1 on the season. Sholl has now given up only 1 hit in 11
innings pitched so far this season. The big righthander struck out 10
and walked 1 in registering the victory.
Four singles in the first
inning accounted for 2 of the Panthers 3 runs, with the big blow being
by Brad Dysinger which drive in 2 runs. Bruce Erford, Larry Eschbach,
and Joe Bidlack all had hits in the big first inning.
Erford led the Panthers attack with two hits and he also drove in the only other run of the game in the second frame.

CRESTVIEW 0
Sudden
Dave Hyman increased the Panthers scoreless inning streak to 22 by
hurling the Panthers to their third N.W.C. win without a defeat in
beating the Crestview Knights.
Sudden struck out 10 batters and
walked only 1 in gaining his first victory of the season. The lanky
lefthander had to work out of a jam in the fourth inning to preserve the
shutout. The Knights had men on 2nd and 3rd with one out, but Hyman
fanned Mike Saylor for the second out and then retired Steve Diller on a
ground ball to Denny Moore at third.
Paulding’s only score came
in the second frame when Steve Yenser led off with a line drive double
over the left fielder. Then after two were out, Moore’s single to right
provided the winning margin.

Maury
Hoover hurled the fourth straight shutout in a row for the Paulding
baseball team and increased the Panthers Northwest Conference record to
4-0. The Panthers now stand 5-0-1 on the season.
Big Lew Roth led
the hitting attack with two hits in three trips and two big RBI’s. The
big 3 run third inning was the clincher for the Panthers fifth win of
the season. Doug Baker led off with a double to right center and Joe
Bidlack followed with a walk. Roth’s single then plated Baker and Steve
Yenser followed with a single that scored Bidlack with the third run.
Dave Eiserle’s fielders choice scored Yenser with the final run of the
game.
Hoover struck out 3 and walked 3 in registering his first win of the season.
