MONTPELIER – Aewyn McMichael connected on a quartet of three-point shots and bucketed 16 points in total to lead the Antwerp Lady Archers to a 43-25 victory over host Montpelier in non-league girls basketball action Saturday afternoon in Williams County.

McMichael added a pair of baskets to help the blue and white get the victory and improve its record to 9-8 overall on the season.

Antwerp scored 13 points in each of the first two quarters to take control of the contest as the Lady Archers led 13-8 at the end of one stanza.

The Locomotives were held to five second-quarter points as the period saw Antwerp extend the margin to 26-13 at the midway point of the contest.

In the third quarter, Antwerp bucketed ten more markers while holding Montpelier to three to expand the advantage to 36-16 entering the final quarter.

Caroline Rohrs and Hayleigh Jewell also reached twin digits for Antwerp as Rohrs chipped in 13 markers with Jewell recording a dozen points in the contest.

The only other scorer for Antwerp was Lydia Krouse, who connected on a pair of free throws for the blue and white.

Montpelier was paced by Jada Uribes with 11 points with Aleigha Hillard scoring six markers for the Locomotives.

Mandy Taylor and Meara McGee both finished with four markers for Montpelier as the Locomotives fell to 9-10 overall on the season.

Antwerp returns to Green Meadows Conference action with a makeup game at home against the Ayersville Pilots on Monday. On Thursday, the Lady Archers visit Hicksville to battle the Lady Aces. The blue and white then hosts Toledo Emmanuel Christian in a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday before welcoming in Hilltop next Tuesday.
