SHERWOOD – Carrie Zeedyk and Kelly Crites each had big games and the Fairview Lady Apaches held off a late Antwerp rally for a 50-43 win in Green Meadows Conference girls basketball play Thursday night.

Zeedyk topped the black and gold with 14 points and eight rebounds while Crites added ten markers, five assists, six rebounds and three steals.

Allison Rhodes chipped in nine points for Fairview, which improves to 8-6 overall and 1-1 in the league. Kaitlyn Zeedyk added seven points for the black and gold followed by Haley Hammer (six) and Bethany Singer (four).

The two teams were tied at 11-11 at the end of one period before Fairview added six markers in the second compared to the Archers’ four, giving the Apaches a 17-15 halftime advantage.

Quarter number three saw the black and gold open up the game, picking up a dozen markers while Antwerp scored five to put Fairview on top 29-20 at the end of three periods.

The Lady Archers piled on 23 points in the final stanza but Fairview scored 21 to set the final 50-43 Apache victory.

Hayleigh Jewell paced Antwerp with 15 points and Aewyn McMichael added 11 markers. Kiana Recker recorded seven points while Astianna Coppes and Grace Schuette finished with five points each.

Antwerp returns to action on Thursday as the Lady Archers host Wayne Trace in the annual battle of Paulding County and Green Meadows Conference rivals. The blue and white then visit Pettisville on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference battle.

Fairview hosts Edgerton in conference play on Thursday before visiting Edon for a non-league contest on Monday.
