DEFIANCE - Fairview batted around twice in a 13-run sixth inning to put an 18-2 beating on Wayne Trace in the ACME Sectional baseball tournament opener at Defiance High School on Friday.

Fairview had six hits, walked six times and took advantage of three Wayne Trace errors in the sixth frame to bring 13 across the plate during the run-rule victory.

The Raiders, which scored their lone run in the first inning on a Drew Forrer RBI single to score Kyle Slade who led off the frame with a base hit, will now play Hicksville on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the losers’ bracket of the double elimination tournament. That survivor advances to play on Sunday at 5 p.m. against the loser of the Saturday 11 a.m. winners’ bracket game between Fairveiw and Antwerp.

Riley Lucas scored four runs and had three hits for Fairview, which avenged a 4-2 Green Meadows Conference defeat to Wayne Trace during the spring season.
