DELTA – In a battle of the Panthers, visiting Paulding rallied to win the final three sets and post a five-set victory over host Delta Monday night in non-league volleyball action.

The green and white took each of the first two sets by identical 25-23 scores before the maroon and white answered with three consecutive wins.

Paulding took game three 25-20 before following that up with a 25-19 victory in the fourth set to even the match. The Lady Panthers of Paulding County then rode that momentum into the decisive fifth set where they cruised to a 15-6 victory.

Carlea Kuckuck led the way for the maroon and white with 11 kills and a block while Marley Parrett added ten slams and a block. Jocelynn Parrett also chipped in seven kills, six aces and ten digs for Paulding and Elli Barton recorded seven slams, one ace and one block.

“The girls started off a little rocky,” noted Paulding head coach Sydney Collins. “We made a lot of offensive errors and gave Delta free points. The girls started to build up their momentum in the last three sets and fought for every point.”

Aeylah Hitzeman recorded six slams and a pair of blocks as well for Paulding with Katie Beckman finishing with six kills and four aces while dishing out 33 assists. Maci Kauser picked up 20 digs and recorded an ace for the maroon and white.

“We became more comfortable and confident as the sets moved on,” Collins continued. “We were more aggressive offensively and therefore didn’t give up as many easy points. I am extremely proud of their endurance and fight through all five sets.”

Paulding’s junior varsity came up short against the Fulton County Panthers as Delta recorded a 15-25, 25-21 and 25-23 win over the maroon and white.
