PAULDING — The Lancers were locked in a battle with Paulding all the way up until the seventh inning on Tuesday night, that is until they put together a four-run rally in their final at-bat to beat the Panthers 5-1 in their season opener.

HAVILAND – The Wayne Trace National Honor Society is holding a 5K (or one-mile walk) on Saturday, April 6, 2023, at the Payne ballpark across from the Payne Elementary School. The race is at 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 7:15 a.m.

ANTWERP – Two home games in two days resulted in two victories for the Antwerp Lady Archers as the blue and white nipped visiting Hicksville 10-9 in eight innings Tuesday evening.

ANTWERP – On a cold and damp night in western Paulding County, the Antwerp Lady Archers started the 2023 high school softball season with a 19-11 win over visiting Edon Monday evening.

OTTOVILLE – The Wayne Trace softball team opened its season in Putnam County Monday night as the Lady Raiders cruised to a 12-0 blanking of host Ottoville.

CONTINENTAL – Evan Crosby tossed a nine-strikeout, no-hitter to lead the Wayne Trace Raiders to a 12-0 win over host Continental to open the high school baseball season Monday night.

BOWLING GREEN – It doesn’t matter how you win this time of the season but the goal is to just find a way to win.

Wayne Trace did just that in Wednesday’s Division III regional semifinal as the Raiders made just enough plays to post a 34-29 victory over Canton Central Catholic in the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University.

BOWLING GREEN – The Canton Central Catholic Crusaders will make the trip to Bowling Green State University Wednesday evening to battle Wayne Trace in the Division III regional semifinals.

HILLIARD – Antwerp junior Hannah Molitor earned all-state recognition on two apparatuses at the OHSAA State Gymnastics Championship, at Hilliard-Bradley High School on Saturday.

NAPOLEON – Junior Kyle Stoller became the 11th boys’ basketball player in Wayne Trace history and second this season to break the 1,000 point mark for his career as the Raiders moved into the district championship with a 41-29 victory over Swanton in the ‘Grand Canyon’ at Napoleon Wednesday evening.
