    PIONEER - For the second time in three years Antwerp has claimed a Division IV sectional volleyball championship. The 2020 version came on Thursday with the Archers pulling out a 27-25, 25-23, 27-25 victory over Patrick Henry at North Central High School.

    Antwerp falls in Hicksville in regular-season finale

    HICKSVILLE - Antwerp closed out the volleyball regular season on a losing note, dropping a road match against Hicksville, 25-22, 25-19, 18-25, 25-14 on Thursday night.

    LEIPSIC - It's part of the growing pains of building a program.

    Antwerp learned that lesson Friday in a 41-13 loss to Leipsic in the second round of the Division VII Region 26 football playoffs.

    The Archers (1-7) will now host Hilltop (0-7) Friday. That game can be viewed online at www.mysports.live.

    EDGERTON – The Holgate girls and boys teams captured Green Meadows Conference cross country championships at Miller Park in Edgerton.

    The Lady Tigers won the title with 59 points to get past second place Edgerton’s 82 while Antwerp placed third via the tiebreaker with 91 points. Tinora finished fourth at 91 points followed by Fairview (99), Wayne Trace (116) and Ayersville (132).

    In the Division III district tournament draw, the Paulding Lady Panthers were tabbed as the fifth seed with the sectional/district opponents, sites and dates released recently.

    HAVILAND – It was Senior Night at the ‘Palace’ Monday evening as the Wayne Trace Lady Raider volleyball team hosted Delphos Jefferson.

    The visiting Wildcats took the opening set 25-21 before the red, white and blue rebounded to win game two 25-16. Wayne Trace then picked up victories of 25-19 and 25-12 in the next two sets as the Lady Raiders improved to 8-11 on the season

    DOLA - Paulding was on the verge of a seventh-consecutive loss, trailing Harding Northern 21-6 at halftime. But the Panthers showed heart and grit in the second half for a come-from-behind 31-21 road victory on Friday night.
