PAYNE – Former Payne resident Arliss Elaine Woodard, age 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Country Inn Enhanced Living Center.

She was born Dec. 2, 1922 in Goshen, Ind., the daughter of the late Noah and Dorothy (Cripe) Bates. On April 13, 1946, she married Virgil G. Woodard, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1999.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Thompson, Fort Wayne, Ed (Kim) Woodard, North Ft. Myers, Fla., Cheryl (Elmer) Baker, Payne, and Larry (Teresa Kilgore) Woodard, Convoy; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth Michael, Elkhart, Ind., Marvin Mercier, South Bend, Ind., Daniel Bates, Cassopolis, Mich., and Martha Meier, Westminster, Colo.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at Paulding Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Jeremy Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Lehman Cemetery, Payne.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Visitation also will be from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to Paulding County Senior Center.
