Dear The Paulding Progress,

Readers are invited to attend the 42nd Annual 24HR Charity Basketball Marathon this Easter weekend at the Wayne Trace Payne Elementary gymnasium on the west edge of Payne.

Hundreds of enthusiastic athletes and volunteers will gather for the 42nd Annual Charity Basketball Marathon sponsored by the Paulding Area Support Society.  As with past Marathons, the goal will be to raise monies for the Society allowing it to assist individuals throughout the coming year with needed resources for medications, physical, occupational and speech therapy and specialized equipment not provided by other means.

This year’s Marathon, dedicated to the memory of two former Marathon Chairmen, Chad Cluts and Bill Price, will feature 76 teams comprised of individuals of all ages and skill levels.  The opening ceremony is at 5:25 p.m. with a four-hour intermission from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. The closing ceremony and awards presentation will occur on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.. The one-time weekend admission fee remains $3/adult; $2 for students thru grade 12 and children, not yet in school are FREE! Food and refreshments will be available throughout the event.  Parking is free.

If you enjoy basketball, want to support a most worthwhile cause, or just want to visit with friends, this is where you’ll want to be.

Hope to see you there.

Very respectfully,

Jim Hooker
