PAULDING – Shop the Square, held on Saturday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 9, was a tremendous success, said Paulding Chamber director Mikayla Pieper.

Vendors, shoppers and all who attended and volunteered were so thrilled to see people downtown again, socializing, roaming the square, and shopping local.

“It was the talk of the town for the past two weeks,” said Dave Burtch, chair of the Downtown Revitalization Committee.

A long-term goal of Shop the Square was that one vendor would see the value of having a storefront, and would rent the building to bring life, and business, downtown again. That goal was met when E&R Ceramics announced they will be staying in the 102 E. Jackson St. building for the foreseeable future.

E&R Ceramics will be open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. every Friday and Saturday leading up to Christmas. After the holiday, they plan to have more hours as well as offer painting lessons.

If you didn’t get a chance to see their handmade work, stop by and do so.

The Shop the Square Committee and the Downtown Revitalization Committee would like to thank all who attended and shopped the square. The committees would also like to thank all the vendors, other businesses that gave coupons, and United Way of Paulding County for making sure everyone stayed warm and energized with coffee and hot chocolate.

Organizers offer another big thank-you to Paulding Progress, Paulding County Area Foundation, and MY 102.7 for their help promoting and printing.

It was clear after Shop the Square that the people of Paulding were excited about shopping downtown again, and their enthusiasm is what made Shop the Square an immense success.

Pieper says to look for another Shop the Square event sometime in the spring.
