Light! Music! Action! The calendar for the next seven days is full of local and area events for your enjoyment this Christmas season. Whether it’s a live concert, school program, dazzling holiday lights, a visit with Santa or shopping for that perfect gift, there’s something for everyone.

Wednesday, Dec. 5 –

Today is reservation deadline for Paulding Schools’ annual Senior Citizens’ Christmas Breakfast for district residents age 60 and older, on Dec. 10; call 419-399-4656, Ext. 1512.

Christmas For Kids live drive from 5-7 p.m. at Oakleaf Restaurant in Oakwood. This will be the season’s final live drive in Paulding County.

Thursday, Dec. 6 –

St. Nicholas Day

Paulding Elementary fourth grade Christmas program, 7:30 p.m. in the auditeria.

Wayne Trace’s annual senior citizens’ “Dinner For a Dollar” luncheon for district residents age 62 and older at noon in the jr./sr. high school; reservations due Dec. 1 at 419-399-4100 or 419-622-5171 (select #2 at prompt), or email saylorc@wt.k12.oh.us.

The book The Polar Express will be the theme of a holiday event from 6-7 p.m. at the Paulding County Carnegie Library. For all ages, including games, snacks, and a visit from Santa Claus.

Holiday Lights at the Fair hosted by 4-H Interstate Exchange Club at Van Wert County Fairgrounds, 6-9 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 7 –

Yuletides of Yesteryear Lantern Tours at Sauder Village in Archbold, 4-8:30 p.m.; reservations required by calling 800-590-9755 or visiting www.saudervillage.org.

Holiday Lights at the Fair hosted by 4-H Interstate Exchange Club at Van Wert County Fairgrounds. Drive through more than 60 light displays, 6-9 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 8 –

The Paulding United Methodist Church annual Homemade Cookie and Candy Walk from 9 a.m.-noon (or until gone) in the church fellowship hall (basement). The event is open to the public.

Santa will visit the Scott Lions Club in Scott from 10 a.m.-noon. A special homestyle breakfast will be served from 9 a.m.-noon, featuring biscuits and gravy. Breakfast donations will benefit local Lions charities.

Community Health Professionals of Paulding will host “Breakfast with Santa” from 9-11:30 a.m. at Paulding County Senior Center. The event is free and open to the public and will include breakfast, activities, pictures with Santa and more.

Mandale Church annual Christmas Giveaway, 9-11 a.m. New toys available for children ages 2-12. Everyone welcome.

“Shop the Square” in downtown Paulding, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Several buildings in downtown will be filled with local vendors and artisans, plus other local retailers will be offering deals and specials; map available. This is the season’s third and final STS day.

Santa’s coming to town in Antwerp from 1-3 p.m. at the Antwerp Fire Station. Kids also can shop for gifts for family members, with assistance from local law enforcement, at the Antwerp Chamber’s “Santa’s Secret Shop”; gifts are $5 each and will be wrapped for giving.

The movie “Elf” will be presented for kids of all ages at 2 p.m. at the Stroede Center for the Arts, 319 Wayne Ave., Defiance. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by Defiance Rotary, Defiance Public Library and Defiance Moose.
