SCOTT – Avangrid Renewables recently donated $10,000 to the Village of Scott for some needed improvements on a recently purchased police cruiser.

Scott Mayor Bryon Glass said the village purchased a 2010 police cruiser to replace their 1995 cruiser, and at the time of purchase, weren’t aware that they would be receiving the generous donation. Glass said the donation came as a pleasant surprise.

“We originally funded [the purchase in full] because we didn’t know the donation was coming,” said Glass. “The opportunity was there to get the car, and we couldn’t wait, so we got it and then found out about the donation.”

The 2010 cruiser needed improvements such as an updated radio, a new antenna, new lights, a new bumper and more, all of which the money from the donation will be helping to fund.

“This money will reimburse the town for everything we got invested in the car,” said Glass. “Then there will be a little bit left over for the Police Fund.”

Cruisers last a long time in Scott. On average, the village only puts 2,000 miles a year on the car.

“If this doesn’t last us for awhile, there is something wrong,” said Glass.

Glass noted that the new cruiser well help with both security in the village and security around the surrounding Blue Creek Wind Farm wind turbines in the Scott area.
