PAULDING – The Paulding Exempted Village School Board for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Several individuals were recognized for their achievements and a three year agreement between the Paulding Educational Association and the district was approved.

Special guests who were in attendance and received recognition was the seventh grade volleyball team coached by Rachel Beckman. The team finished the season as NWC west division champions.

Freshman Elyse Manz was recognized for competing at the regional cross country meet.

Marcus Miller, a senior, was recognized for being named an honorable mention National Merit Scholar award winner.

A motion was made and moved to approve the collective bargaining agreement between the district and the Paulding Education Association. The three-year agreement runs from July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2020 and allows for a three-percent raise the first year followed by a 1.5 percent increase in years two and three.

Eight high school staff members, Melissa Harder, Maggie Almandinger, Chelsea Koester, Malinda Schmidt, Garrett Davis, Brett Foster, Kristina Williams and Emily Remaklus, recently attended the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta. The staff spent two days in professional development at the academy, learning skills that will make them more effective in their teaching. Several staff members shared some of their experiences while attending the academy.

Superintendent Ken Amstutz reported that enrollment in the district stands at 1,480.

Amstutz thanked Karen Schlatter for organizing the recent veteran’s program. He reported that nominations for Academic Hall of Fame are being accepted until Feb. 1, 2018.

A motion was made and seconded to advertise for the acceptance of bids for replacement doors for the Paulding campus.

The board voted to send four FFA students and one staff member to Columbus on Dec. 1 in order to attend the State Food Science competition. The cost for the trip is being paid for by FFA Alumni.

In other business, the board:

• approved several policies that were revised, replaced or new.

• accepted the resignation of Ruth Elkins, a cook/server at Paulding Elementary effective Oct. 27.

• approved a one year limited contract for Amanda Kunz, Paulding Elementary aide, effective Nov. 6. A one year limited contract for Holly Dangler, seven-hour Paulding cook/server, effective Dec. 13.

• Agreed to increase the hours of Brandy Snipes, Paulding Elementary cook/server from three hours to five hours per day.

• Approved to revise the previous confidential contract of Natalie Griffiths, EMIS coordinator, from 260 days per year to 207 days per year.

• Agreed to rescind the previous extra-curricular contract of Desiree Dunbar, junior class advisor (25 percent). • Extra-curricular contracts were approved for Denise Kinder, junior class advisor (25 percent); Mike Maag and Tyler Ash, assistant junior high wrestling; and Sarah Shea, Oakwood Elementary sixth-grade student council advisor.
