James Stripe
PAULDING - At the Paulding County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCBDD) meeting on May 17, the board entered into a shared services agreement with Van Wert County, naming James Stripe as superintendent.

Stripe will begin June 1, replacing retiring WCBDD superintendent Debra Guilford.

Stripe currently serves as the superintendent for the Van Wert County Board of DD and has been with the organization since 1976.

Stripe says the best part of his job is, “making a difference in people's lives and working with caring dedicated people.”

Guilford presented the board with the Annual Plan survey results, which will be used to create the next three-year strategic plan. Community feedback about what the Board of DD does well included, “encouraging individuals to find out what interests them and pursue that.”

Other responses said PCBDD was exceptional at community involvement, helping children through Early Intervention, answering questions, collaboration, and keeping families up to date on new information.

Additionally, Guilford presented the 2018 Annual Report, which reported 140 individuals with disabilities received services. Revenue was $1,774,677, with 74 percent of that provided by the local levy. Expenditures were $1,617,665 with 28% of that being spent on contract services and 27% on Medicaid match.

Furthermore, Guilford announced that Paulding County commissioners approved a resolution seeking to renew the current 1-mill levy to be voted on Nov. 5.

The next board meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. June 20 at 900 Fairground Drive, Paulding.
