Antwerp Local Schools’ superintendent Dr. Martin Miller told the
school board, at its March 17 meeting, that the district is considering a
new mission statement for the district. The proposed statement reads,
“Inspire tomorrow’s leaders in creativity, collaboration, critical
thinking, and communication.”
The board also reviewed the
district’s vision statement, which reads, “All students to graduate from
our PK-12 educational facilities with 21st Century skills, knowledge,
and behaviors that will enable them to successfully participate in the
global economy as productive citizens. Ultimately, all students will
graduate well prepared for success.”
The board accepted several
donations to the new Innovation and Aquaponics Center (see related
article). The first is a $40,000 anonymous donation. The Paulding County
Master Gardener Volunteers donated $170 to help with the purchase of
plants, soil and fertilizer for the greenhouse, so that students will be
able to use the center at the start of the school year.
The board
also approved a three-year contract with Kyle Zartman, as Innovation
and Aquaponics Director for the 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 school
years.
It also accepted the E-rate bid from X-Tek Partners for
wireless access points, switches and cables for a cost of $115,304.
E-rate will pay 60% of the cost, while the district will be responsible
for the remaining $46, 121.60.
The meeting opened with Miller
recognizing Brooke and Hannah Molitor for their leadership in starting a
gymnastics team at Antwerp. Miller presented each gymnast with a
superintendent certificate and pin.
