A storm caused damage Wednesday night, April 19, in scattered areas of Paulding County.

No injuries were reported.

In a campground area along Road 171 on the Auglaize River south of Junction, hail and strong winds toppled trees, downed power lines and damaged roofs. The covered porch was torn off one cabin, pulling the posts and cement out of the ground.

County EMA director Ed Bohn said National Weather Service indicated no tornado activity.

The weather service “did not indicate to me that there was any other weather activity in Paulding County,” Bohn said. “We had reported wind gusts of over 40 miles an hour, but nothing more than that.”

He said damage was reported from hail and winds on Roads 315, 73 and 63. Property damage included a farm and four homes in Crane Township, where hail cracked or broke vinyl siding and windows.

The sheriff’s office noted receiving three calls between 9:07 and 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday, all involving downed trees on Roads 156, 179 and 171 in Auglaize and Brown townships. Some power lines also were taken down.
