PAULDING – Ground was broken last week on the new soccer complex at Lela McGuire Jeffery Park in Paulding.

Excavation for the driveway and drainage system started July 2.

Five new soccer fields for various age groups are being added to the park, located on Road 142 on the west edge of Paulding.

Plans call for extending the existing driveway, adding another parking lot and installing a sidewalk from the parking area to the soccer fields.

The cost for Phase I is anticipated to be around $150,000. Donations may be sent to the Paulding County Area Foundation at 101 E. Perry St., Paulding OH 45879. Make checks payable to the Paulding County Area Foundation with “Soccer Complex” in the memo line.

The Paulding Soccer Club noted that the Village of Paulding approved payment for several components of the project at their monthly meeting July 1.

The club also announced the first field sponsor for the new soccer complex is Haviland Drainage Products.
