PAULDING — Sheriff Jason K. Landers is accepting applications for his Citizens Academy. This addition to the Sheriff’s Office was implemented in 2019 and was not held in 2020. This will be the second academy.

The Citizens Academy will begin Monday, September 13, 2021 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The program will continue for eight Monday sessions at the same place and time, concluding Monday, Nov. 1, 2021. Each session will be held at Paulding County’s recently purchased annex building located at 451 McDonald Pike in Paulding, which many will remember as the Fritz House complex.

“I am excited to get this second session underway. After a fantastic inaugural session in 2019, I was forced to not have it last year to do the State mandates,” said Sheriff Landers. “We received good critical feedback from the group that attended year one. I hope to build off that and bring some solid information to this next class.”

Topics to be covered during this eight-week course include, but are not limited to, administration/budget/payroll, communications division, road patrol operations and special assignments, corrections division, civil process and the overall criminal justice system from start to finish.

To apply, go to the Sheriff’s Office website at or stop by the office to pick up an application. People interested in attending this informative program should apply no later than Friday, August 27at 3 p.m.

Up to twelve applicants will be notified by September 3rd of their acceptance. There are no costs for this academy.
