The Paulding County Carnegie Library is ready for a fabulous fall. The library will be closed on Monday, October 10 to observe Columbus Day. October is National Book Month. Stop by your local library and see what activities they have to offer. Focus on the importance of reading, writing and literature throughout your community.

The Adult section will be having “Coffee Talk” every Thursday at 1 p.m., stop by for some delightful conversation. Cookbook Club will meet, Monday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m., bring a dish and a recipe to share, call the library at 419-399-2032 to find out what the theme is for the month. Along with the Children’s Room there will be Trick or Treating in Adult section, Thursday, October 27, 5-6:30 p.m.

The children’s room is having preschool story time on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., no need to register just stop by and enjoy an entertaining time. The children’s room is planning their annual fall party with a “Story book Trick or Treat” 5-6:30 p.m., come and trick or treat with your favorite story book characters. Check us out for activities within the library.

The Antwerp branch is continuing its Book Club and the Cookbook Club, call the library at 419-258-2855 for times and dates. Story time is every Wednesday at 11 a.m. be sure to stop in and see Mis Stephanie. The branch has an ongoing book sale stop in and take a look.

The Grover Hill branch is planning a “Bewitched October”. Munchkin story time will be on October 17th and 31st at 10:30 a.m. Senior Bingo is set for Thursday October 13th, enjoy a stirring game of Bingo and a hot pot of veggie soup, plus a few other spooky treats. Tweens and Teens (ages 10+) can conjure up apothecary “potion” bottles and charm necklaces after school from 4-6:30 p.m. on Monday the 24th. The GHBL Book Club will be discussing the October selection of “Midnight at the Bluebird Café” by Heather Webber on Wednesday, October 26th at 4 p.m. You can support the Friends of the Grover Hill Branch Library at their Fall Fundraiser cookout Saturday October 15th from 3-5 p.m. in front of the library. Freewill donations will go to support the maintenance of the GHBL building and grounds, plus special programming activities and events all year long. The library will be at the Elementary Literacy Night Thursday October 21st from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and at the Halloween festivities on Saturday, October 29th. Town activities begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Payne branch is having an Essential Oils class with Judy Hook on Monday, October 17th at 6 p.m. You will learn how to make natural cleaning supplies for your homes that are toxin free. Cookbook Club is back, on Monday, October 24th at 5:45 p.m. They will be cooking from “Taste of Home 5 Ingredient Comfort Food Cookbook”. Stop by to pick out your recipe and sign up. Story time is every Tuesday at 11 a.m. come join a story and a craft. Diamond Dots are available every Wednesday from 12-3 p.m. There are bookmarks available to make. Teen Time is on Thursday, come and make a craft or just hang out.

Friends of the Paulding County Carnegie Library will meet Monday, October 3rd at 6 p.m. in the south wing of the Main Library. We love to see new faces at the meetings. Membership is $5 through December 31, 2022. Ask us how you may opt to work volunteer hours at Buy the Book in lieu of annual membership dues. Bookstore hours are 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturdays and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

Black Swamp Bookworms will meet immediately following the Friends’ meeting Monday October 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Annex. We are reading “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson.
