Antwerp Day In the Park set for Aug. 9

ANTWERP – Antwerp’s 15th annual Day In the Park is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 at Riverside Park. The day will be filled with community fun at the beautiful park along the Maumee River.

The day will kick off at 10 a.m. with a parade through downtown Antwerp. The crowd will then gather at the park at 11 a.m. for the official opening of the day’s events with the community band leading those in attendance in the National Anthem and a salute to the United States.

Gun raffle, computer updates approved at Payne

PAYNE – On Monday evening, the Payne Village Council met in regular session. Computer upgrades in the police and fire department were approved, council okayed the gun raffle for the fire department, and a promotion was also made within the fire department.

 
Sheriff: No jail levy this year

Paulding County Sheriff Jason Landers issued the following press release on Tuesday morning, July 29:

“Over the past two weeks, I have traveled all over the county speaking with my constituents in regards to a potential operating levy being placed on the November 2014 ballot.

PAYNE – The Payne Relief 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at at the ballfields across from Payne Elementary School.

Entry fee is $20. T-shirts will be given to all participants. Door prizes. Age group medals.

Morning on the Maumee: Nature and history hike at Blue Cast Springs PDF Print E-mail

WOODBURN – Join Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor and ACRES Land Trust for a morning hike at Blue Cast Springs, one of the newest nature preserves on the Maumee River at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26. This is a family-friendly activity and all are welcome to attend. The hike and program will last approximately 1.5 hours, and will focus on the history of the site, the role of natural springs, and prehistory of the site.

This is a free event, and donations to either organization are welcome.

Blue Cast Springs Nature Preserve is an ACRES Land Trust preserve, located at 21412 Bluecast Road, Woodburn.
