OAKWOOD – Over the past 50 years Gary and Judy Frederick of Oakwood found a friendship, raised a family, and built a beautiful marriage. Oct. 26, 2013 will mark their 50th wedding anniversary.

The still-young-at-heart pair celebrated the event early, enjoying an Alaskan cruise in August. They will be celebrating the event near their anniversary date with close family.

Please send the happy couple a card or note, sharing a special memory from early or even later during their 50 years of bliss to help them commemorate the milestone. Their love and commitment to one another and to all those around them has provided a perfect example of how to conduct our own lives.

MR. and MRS. CLYDE HUNTER PDF Print E-mail

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hunter were blessed by the Lord to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 25, 2013.

Clyde Hunter and Thelma Crisp were married on Aug. 25, 1973 at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church at Junction by Pastor Terry Brock.

The couple have two children, Amy (John) McMaster of Paulding and Keith (Sheila) Hunter of Defiance.  They have five grandchildren, Emma, Julia, Katelyn, Titus and Kylee.

They were so grateful to have the opportunity to celebrate 40 precious years of God’s blessings with their close family.


PAULDING — Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kepler will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 5.

Richard Kepler and Sharon Kadesh exchanged wedding vows on Oct. 5, 1963, at the First Christian Church in Paulding, with Rev. Hal Zug officiating.

They are the parents of  a daughter, Sharolee (Jeffrey) Huet of Merritt Island, Fla. and a son, Brian (Sandra) Kepler of Deerborn, Mich.

The couple also has two grandchildren, Nathan and Shelby Huet, also of Merritt Island, Fla.

A Hawaiian themed party was held at the couple’s home this summer.

The Kepler’s are celebrating this special occasion with a 15 day tour of the 50th state, the Hawaiian Islands.

PAYNE – Mr. and Mrs. John Tinlin of Payne, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

John H. and Susan Tinlin were married Sept. 29, 1963, at the United Methodist Church in Haviland by the Rev. Grayson Atha.

They are the parents of three children, Lisa (Ron) Mandel of Le Mesa, Calif., Mark of Payne and Amy (Steve) Coyne of Defiance.

The couple also have three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

To celebrate the event, the couple just returned from a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Niagara Falls.



Gene and Nova Scarbrough will celebrate 70 years of marriage on November 21, 2013.


Gene and Nova have three daughters, Debra (Chuck) Dunham, of Haviland, Ohio; Melanie (John) Dotson, who passed away in 2002, of Zephryhills, Florida; and Algene (Wayne) Westgate, of Marion, Indiana.


They have 11 grandchildren, Ryan (Jodi) Dunham, Kim (James) Harness, Jason (Sheila) Dunham, Melissa (Ben) Moore, Patric (Jody) Dunham, Stephen (Rachel) Yurcaba, Rachel Dotson and Lauren Dotson, Adam (Jamie) Westgate, Lesleigh (Brent) Moore, Gena (Ryan) Smith. The couple also has 31 greatgrandchildren.


They request the honor of your presence for their family celebration on Saturday, Oct. 5th, 2:00-4:00 pm, at the Grover Hill Elementary School. No gifts please...just your smiling face!



ANTWERP — Mr. and Mrs. Francis Rhoad will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept. 26.

Francis Rhoad and Linda (Hoste) Huss were married Sept. 26, 1988, in Covington, Ky. by Circuit Court Judge James Gilliece.

Fran is retired from Weatherhead and Linda is an Avon representative.

Fran has two sons, Dan (Yvonne) Rhoad of Antwerp and Darin Rhoad of Paulding; and a stepson, John Phillips of Antwerp.

Linda has a daughter, Angie Kaufman and a son, John Huss, both of Antwerp.

The couple will celebrate the occasion with a get together at a later date with family and friends.



GROVER HILL – Mr. and Mrs. Robert Paul Bidlack of Grover Hill will be celebrating 70 years of marriage.

Robert Paul Bidlack and Shirley Ann Thrasher were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1943, in Covington, Ky.

Paul is a retired farmer and also is retired from B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn.

Shirley is a homemaker and was a talented seamstress. She has enjoyed giving handmade gifts to friends and family during her lifetime.

They have been blessed with six children. They are Connie (Tom) Baldwin of New Haven, Dennis (Cheryl) Bidlack of Van Wert, Paulette (Richard) Stemen of Payne, Patricia Bidlack of Van Wert, Rudy (Ellen) Bidlack of Scott and Jeffrey (Jenni) Bidlack of Grover Hill.

They have 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate the occasion with an open house to be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Wayne Trace Grover Hill Elementary School gym.

A card shower will be held and the couple request no gifts.



PAULDING – Harold and Jackie McDougle celebrated their 25th anniversary on Aug. 27.

Harold McDougle and Jackie Heck were married on Aug. 27, 1988, at their residence by their pond.

They are the proud parents of two daughters, Cassie and Marcie. Harold also has two sons, Brandon and Jason, and two daughters, Jenny and Deanna. The couple has four grandchildren.

PAULDING – Mr. and Mrs. John E. Ganger celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 22.

John E. Ganger and Cheryl Ann Giesken of Paulding, were united in marriage on June 22, 1963, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulding, by Father Ruess.

Parents of the bride were Aloysius and Opal (Gunderman) Giesken and parents of the groom were Lerenzie and Margaret (Chapke) Ganger, all of Paulding. Serving as bridesmaids were friends of the bride, Mary Ellen Dagger and Mary Ann Gross. The flower girl was sister of the bride, Maralyn Giesken. Groomsmen included the groom’s brother, Roland Ganger and the bride’s brother, Robert Gieske.

John retired from GM Power train in Defiance, following 38 years of service. Cheryl was a homemaker and an in-home childcare provider for 15 years.

They are the parents of three children, John Jr. (Dessie Diehm) of Antwerp, James, who died in a tragic car accident in 1987, and Teresa (Donald) Lippi of Van Wert.

The couple have seven grandchildren, John III, Nathan and Noah Ganger and Khandiss, Donnie, Brandon and Travis Lippi.

The couple celebrated the occasion Sunday, Aug. 18, at a buffet-style dinner party at the Black Swamp Bistro in Van Wert hosted by their children and grandchildren.


PAYNE – Mr. and Mrs. James Overmyer of Payne will soon celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jim and Carole (Wood) Overmyer were married Sept. 7, 1963 by Pastor Marvin Biery at the Payne Church of Christ.

He is retired from International Harvester and continues to be a Harrison Township trustee; she is a retired registered nurse from Paulding County Hospital.

They have one son, Wade Allen (Holly) Overmyer of Houston, and two daughters, Dawn Elaine (Eric) Cook of Payne and Krista Lynne (Brad) Volk of Grover Hill. They also have six grandchildren: Eli and Tanner Cook, Hannah, Libby and Patrick Overmyer and Campbell Volk. One grandson is deceased.

They plan a quiet celebration with immediate family later in the fall.
