Girls basketball –

The Antwerp Lady Archers picked up win number one of the season with a 49-43 victory over visiting Parkway. Senior Alexis Jones poured in 31 points including a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. The Archers stand at 1-6 and will play at Edgerton on Friday and Saturday in the Route 49 Classic.

 

Boys basketball –

Saturday night saw the Archers, under the direction of Coach Scott McMichael, tangle with Contential to the final buzzer. Continental's Justin Halliwill drilled a 3-pointer to pull the Pirates to within one at 35-34 with 23 seconds remaining. After an Archer turnover, the Pirates worked the clock down to the final second when Halliwill took another 3-point attempt for the win, but 6-'4" sophomore Trenton Copsey stepped out to blocked the potential game winner to seal the win for the 3-2 Arhcers. Noah Ganger led all scorers with 16.

 

Wayne Trace outscored visiting Lincolnview 24-7 in the third quarter to pull away for a 62-47 victory over the Lancers in non-league boys basketball action Saturday night at the ‘Palace.’

Corbin Linder scored 20 points and Ryan Kortokrax added a dozen to lead the Raiders, who move to 3-1 on the season.

Wayne Trace returns to action on Friday as the Raiders visit Parkway before traveling to Miller City on Saturday.

 

Wrestling

Paulding wrestled at the Edgerton Duals. They went 3-2, losing to Fremont Ind. and Sandusky and beat Morenci, Mich., Patrick Henry, and Hudson Mich.
