Boys’ basketball –
Wayne Trace dropped to 1-1 on the season after the Raiders fell to Crestview 60-40 in the championship game of the Van Wert County Hospital Tip Off Classic at Van Wert High School Saturday night. Crestview led at every stop, posting a 13-11 advantage after one quarter before widening it to 29-18 at the intermission. Ryan Kortokrax led the red, white and blue with 16 points while Dalton Sinn chipped in 10. Grady Gudakunst (five), Devin Wenzlick (four), Jake Arend (two), Corbin Linder (two) and Brock Worden (one) completed the Raider scoring.
After defeating Continental 61-49 on Friday night the Paulding Panthers felt no ill effects to the quick turn around as they soundly defeated Antwerp 56-37 on Saturday night. Paulding placed 10 players in the scoring column. Leading the Archers offensively was Noah Ganger who was the only double digit scorer for the Archers with 11.
Wrestling –Paulding opened its wrestling season on Saturday as the Panthers finished in second place at the Iron Horse Invitational in Montpelier. The Panthers’ Taylor Deatrick won the championship at 132, posting pins in all five of his matches on the day.
