PEVS superintendent, football coach resign

By AMBER GEBERS • Correspondent

PAULDING – There was much to discuss at the November meeting of the Paulding Exempted School Board, which was held on Tuesday, Nov. 20. The board held an hour-long executive session at the beginning of the meeting to discuss employment of a public employee.

The board also had two speaking guests in attendance at the meeting. Nathaniel Trausch, a Paulding County homeschool student, and Gary Gilbert, PEA president, both spoke to the board for some time.

Trausch voiced his interest in playing high school sports, specifically soccer. To allow him to do so would mean a change in current school policy. He gave the board several handouts with information about the topic.

Gilbert asked the board to allow the teachers to “have a voice at the table” when it came to hiring the next superintendent. Greg Reinhart, president of the board, recommended that Gilbert meet with the other teachers and make a list of questions/concerns they would like asked of any potential hires.

In a related matter, the resignation of superintendent Patricia Ross was approved, effective Dec. 31. She is now superintendent at Antwerp Local Schools.

The board also approved the resignation of Chris Etzler as head football coach, effective Nov. 12.
