FORT WAYNE – Paulding resident Krista Gonzales was one of eight women featured at Francine’s Friends annual “Lunch with Friends” fund-raiser last month.

A one-year breast cancer survivor, Krista said she was honored to have been asked to participate in the annual event, held Oct. 12 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. A record crowd of 600 people attended and about $120,000 was raised to provide mammograms to women who may not otherwise be able to afford them.

“I was really nervous all day,” said Gonzales, who is not comfortable being the center of attention. She had to arrive a few hours early to prepare.
